Salt Water Flush

Detoxing with a salt water flush is an excellent way to cleanse the body. Our lifestyles often don't allow enough time between meals to completely eliminate the toxins we collect from the food we ingest. What we cannot process, we store in our body and it is up to us to take action in order to purify ourselves and maintain optimal health.

Everyone knows that you cannot gain physical strength simply by thinking about it! We have a responsibility to our bodies and a salt water flush is a simple and straight forward approach to detoxification. For the same reason we must flush our car's motor oil every 3,000 miles - we must flush our system to rejuvenate our organs, intestines and ultimately our "engine". Toxins can aggravate pre-existing problems (and in some cases cause them) therefore it is highly recommended that we fast and cleanse periodically.

If you are not familiar with this process, you MUST research all aspects of cleansing as it can be dangerous to do so without appropriate knowledge. You can search online for dozens of cleansing options - the most popular (but not necessarily the best choice for you) is The Master Cleanse. For many people fasting and cleansing is a spiritual endeavour and there are many good websites that show this.

When you decide you are ready for a salt water flush you have several options. It goes without saying however, that fasting is the first step to any successful cleanse. If you are still eating, you are not capable of eliminating! Again you must have good working knowledge of what it means to fast. If you are new to this process simply skip dinner and be prepared to start your salt water flush upon waking.

If you are willing to fast for multiple meals (several days is ideal) you have a greater chance at fully eliminating the body's waste. After you have begun your fast, one option for preparing your body for a salt water flush is to use an enema. This is not required, but you may find it helpful. Another option is good if you have had any difficulty with constipation - drink a laxative tea a day or two prior to the flush.

Once you are comfortable with the level of fasting you have chosen, you are ready for a salt water flush! This process can be unsettling, so try this step at home where you are most comfortable and least likely to be disturbed. Upon waking (try waking an hour or two earlier than usual) you will ingest 1-2 litre (depending on your size) of warm water in one sitting. Each litre may contain 1-2 TBSP of non-iodized salt (one TBSP is usually enough but knowing that you can adjust the amount is helpful).

The elimination process can start anywhere from 15 minutes to 1 hour after ingesting. Do your best to drink one full litre without stopping! If you stop you may have a hard time starting again. Staying relaxed is key. Read a good book and let nature take it's course. Do not be alarmed by the changes you may feel as the salt water flush works it's magic, but should you feel that something is wrong, please refer to a trusted resource regarding proper cleansing and fasting.
